After Christchurch: The new Australian social media laws

About the Event

When was the last time someone sued Toyota for a car accident caused by negligent driving?

No one can deny that social media is a breeding ground for harmful and violent activity, but the new laws fail to address the individual users. Has the government just swept the underlying problems with social media under the carpet?  What measures are being taken to educate the public about their social media responsibilities, or to implement appropriate laws to punish individual wrongdoers. Could there have been better engagement with the platforms to find a real solution to the social media problems today?

Let's not wait for more deaths online. It's time to open up discussions about social media use rules that everyone can follow.
